Birds of a feather..

I'm sure you have seen girls (even guys) walking around with different colored extension pieces in their hair or have even thought they were earrings. Well those my friends are the latest craze, they are FEATHER HAIR EXTENSIONS!! Who said feathers are just for birds!! This is such a fun way to add some flare to your normal hair do. They are very simple and fast to install, it is the same installation method as a micro-bead extension. They're cool too because you can wash, blow dry and heat style the feathers just like you would your own hair! They are very low maintenance and look good on everyone young or young at heart!
Come and get them done by me(if you live in SLC, UT-if not you can fly me out to you!haha)!!! I do a cluster of 3 feathers to one bead or a cluster of 5 feathers to 0ne bead- you get to pick your colors..
Please contact me via email for pricing and to set up an appt! Hurry to get the colors you want because these are going fast!
Get your feather on!!
Hearts,
Mary
Colors I currently carry this is the bold color set.
You wont find these around- this is the tie-dyed set.
These are the natural/grizzly set.

2news Good Morning Utah segment two-time to restock!

We tossed out our old used makeup in segment one and feel awesome!! So for segment two we are restocking on makeup!! Woohoo! Now don't be scared you don't have to spend bookoo bucks on new makeup. I am going to show you some great drug store picks along with some really great basics to splurge on from Sephora.
With these everyday makeup essentials, you can say good bye to a cluttered makeup kit!
foundation with options of: liquid, cream to powder, mineral, tinted moisturizer and concealer(which should be used prior to foundation used under eyes, around your nose and any red spots or blemishes)

eyeliner and bronzer
blush and lip gloss or tinted chap stick
mascara, a good nutral eye shadow pallet is great for every day, and of course sunblock!! I should have listed this 1st but didn't think about that when taking the pics.
Fun picks to splurge on!! These are great for a natural look! Tinted moisturizer from Clinique with sunblock. Benefit's Hoola bronzer-love this for a healthy glow. Nars blush in Orgasm- perfect pop of pink with out being to dramatic. Top it all off with some mascara-I love Benefit's Bad Gal Lash or Dior's Show mascara. I forgot lip gloss!! I love love Mac's Purr..it's got a pinky hue that looks fun and girly:)

Have fun shopping for new makeup!!!

Good Morning Utah.. time to clear out your old makeup!!

Last week I had two segments on KUTV Ch.2 morning news(here in Utah). For the first segment I figured it's almost spring and I should talk about spring cleaning your makeup! Everyone has makeup they don't use and even makeup that has traveled with them since they can remember... Well it's time to clean out your makeup bags ladies!! Not only is saving every piece of old unused makeup a waste of space it is also a breeding ground for bacteria! If you don't remember how long you've had it you've had it too long. Old makeup and dirty applicators can cause infection or irritation. Plus tossing out old makeup means new makeup-yeay!!
Here's how long you should keep your makeup:

Three months: mascara and liquid liners
Six months: eye creams, eye foundations/concealers/base, cream eye shadows, any other cream or gel base for eyes, face powders which have had brushes or sponges in contact with the product, foundations that are cream or cake
One year: liquid foundations, cream/gels, moisturizer, concealer used on face providing it is in a tube and does not have an applicator
 18-24 months: lipgloss
Two years: lip liner, lipstick, powder, cake blush, bronzer, eye shadows

Also you are going to want to take a look at your makeup applicator tools. Are they sufficient? Dirty? Floating around in the bottom of a drawer or bag?  These become dirty and bacteria filled quickly. Toss out any used sponge applicators that came with the makeup and invest in some good washable brushes. This way you can extend the life of your makeup by eliminating the amount of bacteria and oils you introduce to it. Get a brush bag to keep them organized and clean. Clean brushes and makeup as needed. Clean eyeliner by rubbing an alcohol soaked cotton ball over the pencil and sharpening the tip completely. Clean brushes in anti-bacterial soap or a mild shampoo. Make sure to rinse well until they are clean.
I hope this motivates you all to clean out your makeup! :)

ESPN THE BODY ISSUE 2010

I was so excited when I was asked to work on the ESPN Body Issue 2010. This issue is not just about nudity but exemplifies the meaning of a true athlete. These athletes work extremely hard for their physiques and are all the most determined disciplined deserving  people. They are winners, they are Olympians.

The shoot took place in Park City, Utah at the Olympic Park, ski Jump facility, bobsled track and Guardsman's Pass.

The athlete I got to work with is U.S Olympic Bobsled Gold Medalist Steve Holcomb. He is bigger than life and one of the sweetest funniest guys I've ever met. Steve was so nice he let me wear his GOLD MEDAL!! I was so excited to just see and hold the gold medal but to wear it!!?! I feel so lucky!! The medal was heavier than I expected and just gorgeous! I was not only in charge of doing his hair and makeup but I was in charge of "holding the robe". I'm sure dropping his robe and posing in the buff in front of a bunch of strangers isn't the easiest thing in the world. I hand it to Steve for keeping his humor and his head held high in 50 degree weather. AND I promise I didn't look ;)

Along with working with Steve I got to work with the amazingly talented photographer Patrick Hoelck. Patrick has shot most of the "who's who" of  Hollywood but didn't have an ounce of ego to show for it. He is actually one of the biggest smartass' so needless to say we clicked instantly :)

Thanks Steve, Patrick and your amazing team and THANK YOU to Derrick over at ESPN!!

My Amazing Drug Store Finds From KUTV Ch.2 Fresh Living Segment

These are the drug store products that I featured on the Fresh Living segment. I personally chose each one because I use them or it was a great find and an amazing product(IMO). I am including the name, description & price. All products were under $13!! They are from Target here in Salt Lake City, UT-so it may very on where you live. ;) The key here is to keep your skin hydrated and soft during these cold winter months.
Winter skincare & makeup products

New Cocoa Butter Vaseline $2.99- It is not absorbed by your skin, it seals the skin retaining your body's moisture. Works for EVERYTHING!

Carmex SPF 15 $1.02- SPF is a must this is a great inexpensive lipprotectant.                                                                             Burt's Bee's $2.99- If your lips are dry and flakey skip the lipstick and use this tinted lipbalm. Smells amazing and has natural ingredients.

Maybelline Waterproof Great Lash Mascara $4.24- This classic is dependable and a bargain- also no clumping! Mascara should be waterproof to avoid smudging from the winter weather, such as snow and rain.                                                    No.7 Eye Makeup Remover $7.99- I've used a bunch and this one is my new fav! Very smooth and easy to use and NO oily residue! Also fragrance free and great for sensitive eyes.

CG Aqua Smoothers Makeup(foundation) $6.99- Hydrates skin for 11hrs and leaves it smooth and beautiful. Fragrance free and wont clog pores. CG Aqua Smoothers Pressed Powder $5.99- Moisture balancing absorbs excess oil, can be worn alone or with foundation. Maybelline Dream Matte Mouse $5.94- Blush is key this winter it gives life and color to your face. Creme blushes are great because they keep your skin hydrated. Great alternative to powder blush and blends easily and wont clog pores.

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion $9.29- Maintains soft skin all day! Eucerin Calming Creme $7.29- Non greasy, really helps my extremely dry skin. One of the BEST moisturizers ever.

Neutrogena Age Shield Repair SPF55 $8.99- Don't leave home without this moisturizer! Super light, oil-free, powerful skin protection and all while reducing fine lines and wrinkles!

Neutrogena Build-a-Tan $11.99- Do your skin a HUGE favor and skip the sun and the tanning beds!!  You don't want to damage your skin and age it faster than it needs, right?! Self tanners have come along long ways. This self tanner is awesome and doesn't smell bad. I like that it gradually builds your tan so you can control your bronze. Very even and streak-free, just make sure to wash hands after each use.

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser $8.99- The most amazing skin cleanser, my fav for sure. You can use this with or without water so it's very easy to use . Cleanses but NEVER strips you of your natural oils and it's great for all skin types. I like to use this morning and night.

St. Ives Blemish & Blackhead Control Apricot Scrub $3.12- Can be used daily and it really works! Doesn't dry out your skin, smells great, exfoliates , and clears up your skin! I also like to use it on my back ans chest areas to prevent body breakouts due to sweat from working out. Use Exfoliating gloves$ 3.69 for your body with your favorite soap( I like dove body wash, not pictured)

Winter Skin Care and Makeup Tips for a Post-Christmas Budget

Hello everyone! I'm sorry for the lack of posting this holiday, I have been swamped with work and of course the usual hustle and bustle the season brings. I hope you had a lovely Christmas and Santa brought you everything you wanted!! What were some of the presents you received? Makeup, clothes, diamonds, a shake weight(haha)?? :)

Today I had the pleasure of doing another segment on Fresh Living. I figured since it is officially winter I would do one based on taking care of winter skin and some makeup tips. Since we are fresh out of Christmas I decided to base the products around amazing drug store brands that are budget friendly. These are ones that I personally chose, use and love.

I hope you enjoy, let me know what some of your favorites are too..

Mary
