ESPN THE BODY ISSUE 2010

I was so excited when I was asked to work on the ESPN Body Issue 2010. This issue is not just about nudity but exemplifies the meaning of a true athlete. These athletes work extremely hard for their physiques and are all the most determined disciplined deserving  people. They are winners, they are Olympians.

The shoot took place in Park City, Utah at the Olympic Park, ski Jump facility, bobsled track and Guardsman's Pass.

The athlete I got to work with is U.S Olympic Bobsled Gold Medalist Steve Holcomb. He is bigger than life and one of the sweetest funniest guys I've ever met. Steve was so nice he let me wear his GOLD MEDAL!! I was so excited to just see and hold the gold medal but to wear it!!?! I feel so lucky!! The medal was heavier than I expected and just gorgeous! I was not only in charge of doing his hair and makeup but I was in charge of "holding the robe". I'm sure dropping his robe and posing in the buff in front of a bunch of strangers isn't the easiest thing in the world. I hand it to Steve for keeping his humor and his head held high in 50 degree weather. AND I promise I didn't look ;)

Along with working with Steve I got to work with the amazingly talented photographer Patrick Hoelck. Patrick has shot most of the "who's who" of  Hollywood but didn't have an ounce of ego to show for it. He is actually one of the biggest smartass' so needless to say we clicked instantly :)

Thanks Steve, Patrick and your amazing team and THANK YOU to Derrick over at ESPN!!

My Amazing Drug Store Finds From KUTV Ch.2 Fresh Living Segment

These are the drug store products that I featured on the Fresh Living segment. I personally chose each one because I use them or it was a great find and an amazing product(IMO). I am including the name, description & price. All products were under $13!! They are from Target here in Salt Lake City, UT-so it may very on where you live. ;) The key here is to keep your skin hydrated and soft during these cold winter months.
Winter skincare & makeup products

New Cocoa Butter Vaseline $2.99- It is not absorbed by your skin, it seals the skin retaining your body's moisture. Works for EVERYTHING!

Carmex SPF 15 $1.02- SPF is a must this is a great inexpensive lipprotectant.                                                                             Burt's Bee's $2.99- If your lips are dry and flakey skip the lipstick and use this tinted lipbalm. Smells amazing and has natural ingredients.

Maybelline Waterproof Great Lash Mascara $4.24- This classic is dependable and a bargain- also no clumping! Mascara should be waterproof to avoid smudging from the winter weather, such as snow and rain.                                                    No.7 Eye Makeup Remover $7.99- I've used a bunch and this one is my new fav! Very smooth and easy to use and NO oily residue! Also fragrance free and great for sensitive eyes.

CG Aqua Smoothers Makeup(foundation) $6.99- Hydrates skin for 11hrs and leaves it smooth and beautiful. Fragrance free and wont clog pores. CG Aqua Smoothers Pressed Powder $5.99- Moisture balancing absorbs excess oil, can be worn alone or with foundation. Maybelline Dream Matte Mouse $5.94- Blush is key this winter it gives life and color to your face. Creme blushes are great because they keep your skin hydrated. Great alternative to powder blush and blends easily and wont clog pores.

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion $9.29- Maintains soft skin all day! Eucerin Calming Creme $7.29- Non greasy, really helps my extremely dry skin. One of the BEST moisturizers ever.

Neutrogena Age Shield Repair SPF55 $8.99- Don't leave home without this moisturizer! Super light, oil-free, powerful skin protection and all while reducing fine lines and wrinkles!

Neutrogena Build-a-Tan $11.99- Do your skin a HUGE favor and skip the sun and the tanning beds!!  You don't want to damage your skin and age it faster than it needs, right?! Self tanners have come along long ways. This self tanner is awesome and doesn't smell bad. I like that it gradually builds your tan so you can control your bronze. Very even and streak-free, just make sure to wash hands after each use.

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser $8.99- The most amazing skin cleanser, my fav for sure. You can use this with or without water so it's very easy to use . Cleanses but NEVER strips you of your natural oils and it's great for all skin types. I like to use this morning and night.

St. Ives Blemish & Blackhead Control Apricot Scrub $3.12- Can be used daily and it really works! Doesn't dry out your skin, smells great, exfoliates , and clears up your skin! I also like to use it on my back ans chest areas to prevent body breakouts due to sweat from working out. Use Exfoliating gloves$ 3.69 for your body with your favorite soap( I like dove body wash, not pictured)

Winter Skin Care and Makeup Tips for a Post-Christmas Budget

Hello everyone! I'm sorry for the lack of posting this holiday, I have been swamped with work and of course the usual hustle and bustle the season brings. I hope you had a lovely Christmas and Santa brought you everything you wanted!! What were some of the presents you received? Makeup, clothes, diamonds, a shake weight(haha)?? :)

Today I had the pleasure of doing another segment on Fresh Living. I figured since it is officially winter I would do one based on taking care of winter skin and some makeup tips. Since we are fresh out of Christmas I decided to base the products around amazing drug store brands that are budget friendly. These are ones that I personally chose, use and love.

I hope you enjoy, let me know what some of your favorites are too..

Fresh Living Segment

Today I had the amazing opportunity to share some fun holiday makeup tips on one of our local afternoon news shows, Fresh Living. Watch it herehttp://connect2utah.com/recipes-and-life/fresh-living-main I was so excited I could barley contain myself and at times thought I was going to pee my pants! But it flew by fast and by the time my time was up I was like "oh man I have so much more to say!" I will make a tutorial of what I was doing on the show so you will get to see the exact way to do a smokey eye or a berry lip. I was so rushed with the segment that I didn't feel like I got to properly tell all the steps. So to all the other makeup artist out there-I know I was lacking my angled brush for the shadow eyeliner(some how it rolled off the table) and I know I said foundation over lips instead of concealer,etc.. so before you slam me just know I know and I am red in the face because you are my peers and people I admire :) But when you are live and only have short amount of time you got'a work with what you have:) I love being able to share tips it's so rewarding and really how much better does it get (besides landing a national news program)!
Thank you to KUTV Ch.2 for having me on the show and a huge thank you to the most wonderful producer ever Amanda Chamberlain!! Thanks to my friends over at Lash My World for providing myself and my gorgeous model/friend Shariana with fabulous lash extensions. Thank you to everyone over at Splendor Beauty Emporium for providing us w/ the newest Laura Mercier holiday collection. And thank you friends for your support and positive encouragement!! If you have any questions regarding the show or makeup tips lmk :)
